United States Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced today that a grand jury sitting in Fresno returned a multi-count indictment against STEVEN WALTER BUTTS, 61; KAREN JEAN FREYLING, 46; STEVEN ALAN LOBUE, 48; RAYMOND PAUL MOTT, 46; and EARL EDWARD (aka JOHN) RIEDEL, 46; all of Turlock, Calif. They are charged with using the Internet in a criminal Its one loopy, tripped out summer vacation you wish you were on, veering from the bendy early synth work of Raymond Scott to the politico-funk of Public Enemy to the twisted techno of Aphex Twin and Compuphonic and Kolombo with a polite dash of Sepultura thrown in for good measure “In addition to making some of the most joyously intricate and distinctive melodies of the 20th Century, Raymond Scott was also a leading pioneer in multi-track recording, electronic music and collaborated with the likes of Robert Moog, Jim Henson and Motown. But odds are you will recognize his tunes from Warner Brothers cartoons.” This clip, from 1938, featuring the Raymond Scott Quintette, playing Scott’s composition “War Dance For Wooden Indians,” is from a Sonja Henie figure skating movie, “Happy Landings,” with Don Ameche, Cesar Romero and Ethel Merman. The tap dancing Indians are Steve and Frank Condos, who are legendary in tap dance circles. It’s a whole album full of peppy big-band swing, and since they’re old public-domain recordings, the whole thing is a FREE download at this terrific blog I tripped over a few days back. Tons of fun stuff including cartoon and comics oriented oddball items and lots of old-timey music! A highly-recommended spot to poke around in. Have fun! Pretty awesome and helpful review for Assassin’s Creed!
